introduction + may
hey yall, I have spent the past week getting this website up and running so I hope yall are able to fully engage with it! considering I just finished university a few weeks ago I have had a lot of free time on my hands and have really been trying to focus on creating more and getting my business up and running. it’s a long process as i’m figuring some of yall know so thanks for bearing with me.
I want to use this blog as a way to keep everyone in the know and update yall on things such as upcoming projects or new techniques I have been loving recently. currently, I am getting back into oil painting and trying for more blended, smooth pieces. while I have been loving the beautiful, cohesive colors I have been able to create, oil painting does require patience, something I need lots of work on. that being said, the month of may is very pivotal for me and I am working hard at fostering healthy habits as I head into post-uni life. one of these habits I am working on is pretty simple- live in/savor the present - but life moves so fast in today’s society that it is hard to practice slow living and truly commit to being where you are in the present moment. alas, there is nothing to do but try; slowing down may feel awkward and stagnant but it is productive in the long term.
this month is also about training my mind to focus on my artistic endeavors and push my creative boundaries. this blog will also help me do that considering I have always associated writing with academia and that association has only served to make me despise writing. but we are contained by words and language so there is no reason to be scared of or spiteful towards a particular form of expression, especially one that is so relational and human.
so, as I embark on my post-uni life and begin my work toward being a professional artist, I thank yall for following along with me and for any and all support. I will be moving back to richmond in a few weeks and since I have access to a much larger space there I am excited to see what next month brings and the ways in which may will allow me to grow my craft.
thanks yall and happy friday
